We all, at one point, have atleast heard of Bittorrent (Apptly known as BT) let-alone used it. I’m going to take alook at some of the popular clients out today.

BitTornado

This client is the one I started out with along with many others. It looks alot like the original BT client authored by BT’s father, Bram Cohen, but with a few key differences, the most important and noticable being the Pause feature. Because of it’s lite code and almost nonexsistent resource consumption it makes this client very fast. Almost as fast as me running to the toilet after consuming a Gordon Food Service Breakfast Burrito. Very fast indeed. One of the draw backs however is the fact that you can only download one thing per client open meaning if you open more than one torrent with BitTornado you’ll have more than one of this little program running, and if you’re a power downloader, this could be a problem. I give it 4/5 for it’s downloading power and ease of use, but it lost a mark simpley because the client can’t handle more that one torrent per client open.

Azureus

The Java based BT client. You know what Java means right? In case you don’t I’ll explain it in a simple way. You ever have a girlfriend/boyfriend that has to be at your side and have all of your attention at all times? Then, if you don’t pay attention to them because you have a few important things you have to do and they get pissy with you because of it? I’m sure you atleast know somebody who’s like that, or somebody who went through that if you didn’t. That’s what Azureus is like because of Java. It requires your computer’s full attention, and if you don’t allow it that attention it will get pissy, as in it will freeze, be slow and all the while trying to rape your computers resources silently. There are some perks though, like multi-torrent downloading in one window and it’s got pretty good speed, it also has a useless feature that I kind of think is cool which is becoming your own tracker which helps keep the MPAA, RIAA, AARP and such off your ass, but I see that most people don’t use this. I give it 2/5 simpley because of it’s “I am man” attitude it has with your computer.

eXeem

What a joke this turned out to be huh? “Here, we’ll give you a half-assed KaZaa based on BT and in return we’ll get payed by infesting your system with spyware reducing it to the speed of of a Commodore 64 in the process of stealing info from your system, enjoy monkey boy!” Fuck this shitty client. I’m not even going to link it like I linked the others: 1/5… No, wait: 0/5, I almost gave it credit for something, my fault, sorry.

ABC

I can’t sat much about this one considering I haven’t used it much, but from what I saw it works very well, though it has some speed issues unlike the others, it works just like it says it does and comes equiped with some nifty useless features like direct BT download linking and such. It also has quite a following, but fails to deliver based on most other client’s delivery, it does get recognition for it’s cross-platform ability though. I’ll give it a 2.5/5 simpley because of it’s lack of speed.

Burst!

If you’re a DOS fan, this one is for you. It’s completely command lin intensive and runs in a DOS box. Because of no GUI, the speed increases, but it has the same draw back as BitTornado (Being as how it’s based on it, I can see why), multiple clients for multiple downloads. Because of the nice speed, it gets perk points with me, but the fact that regular users can’t just install it and use without prior knowledge, and the fact it has the BitTonado complex, it gets one less as it’s father app: 3/5

Tomato Torrent

Don’t think I forgot about you Mac users. I can’t score this simpley because when I run Mac OSX on my PC, I can’t do anything really because it drains my PC dry of resources and other vitale liquids needed to run or something like that. All I’m going say is that, it’s there, and it’s built specifically for Mac users.

BitLord

The prefered client. I use BitLord as my main Client and have been doing so for about a month or 2 now and I must say it’s a step above the rest. This client is built stabley through C++ to run nativley on Windows without Java or mass resource consumption. The speeds are damn good if I say so myself. It also features a torrent searcher that seraches popular BT farm sites like TorrentSpy and other Suprnova-esque sites. I’m in love with this client, I’m not afraid to say it either, It has me EXE whipped. You can create torrents with this as well as many other useful features. 5/5 all the way.

If you’d like to learn more about these clients, just click the names, they’re links I’ve so annoyingly provided… Except eXeem… Fuck eXeem.
