Al Qaeda Terrorist Lego - Not such a great gift idea?

Here’s an idea. Get your 7 year old one of these new fancy Masked Islamic Terrorist lego’s to show how badass the space policeman lego figure can be in the fight against terrorism. Who knows, maybe the guy with a feather on his chest will be the one that eventually captures Osama Bin Laden in your child’s Lego fantasies. Or going one step further into your son or daughter’s inevitably fucked up head, they can stage a massive battle on par with west side story meets Broken Arrow meets Schindlers List with the nazi action figures, complete with SS symbol on their little tiny lego armbands.
Well, one company, BrickArms, who is not in any way affiliated with Lego, has made this and more possible with their new line of “What the fuck were they thinking designing this prototype?” lego-style toys, just in time for the holiday season and time for you to definitely, definitely not buy.

Well maybe for your jewish friend, I’m sure a nazi soldier standing 2 inches tall would make him or her just melt. Or how about your muslim buddy? He’d be delighted to reach into his stocking and see a masked muslim with grenades, rocket launcher, and an AK-47 assault rifle in tow. Now he can declare his own jihad right in the privacy of his own home!
Really though, there’s a lot of people getting pissed off about this. For example, according to reports from thesun.co.uk, Mohammed Shaffiq, a member of the Muslim organization “The Ramadhan Foundation”, branded the toy “absolutely disgusting”. Well I don’t quite agree, I mean it’s not like the little 2 inch terrorist is puking or pooping or something, or eating a 3 week old hamburger and washing it down with apple juice. That would be pretty god damn disgusting. Who else is pissed off? Well for one, director of the Jewish Council for Racial Equality, Eddie Friedman, said: “These distasteful toys are something we could all well do without, especially when there is so much tension around.”
Well, not so fast. I agree that it’s pretty messed up, but think of it this way: With the downturn of the global economy, a company who has found a way to get free marketing and advertising through today’s social media, such as this very website, who is probably employing at least several people somewhere, this can be a good thing, in disguise. I won’t go into a deep political discussion or anything, mainly because my opinion matters less than Bill O’Reilly’s, but the fact that this company is, right now, accomplishing specifically what they set out to do, is pretty good in these so-called bad times.
The lego company has denied any and all affiliation with BrickArms, and has stated that BrickArms is not licensed to customize lego brand toys. I smell a lawsuit coming to take away all those hard earned dollars…
